SHCC Safety & Weapons Policy

 

What do I do if I find/lose something?

Please bring all found items/report all lost items to the Show Office or the Security Office.

 

What if I get hurt?

If you're hurt, please reach out to a SHCC staff member and we'll get you help.

 

What if I am harassed?

Harassment of any kind, including stalking, deliberate intimidation, unwelcome physical attention, physical assault and battery, will not be tolerated at SHCC. If it's illegal outside the convention center, it's illegal inside the convention center. Harassment is grounds for removal from the convention without refund as well as potential legal action. We want SHCC to be a safe, open and accepting environment for all Fans, and if you find yourself victim of harassment at the convention please come immediately to SHCC's Show Office.

 

What does SHCC think of weapons?

   The following items are forbidden at SHCC:
  • Functional firearms (including air soft guns, BB guns, cap guns, paintball guns and pellet guns)
  • Realistic replica firearms (including reproduction, fake or toy guns that can be confused for functional firearms)
  • Functional projectile weapons (including blow guns, crossbows, long bows, silly string, slingshots, water balloons and water guns)
  • Sharpened metal-bladed weapons (including axes, daggers, hatches, knives, kunai, shuriken, swords, sword canes and switch blades)
  • Explosives (including firecrackers and fireworks)
  • Chemical weapons (including mace and pepper spray)
  • Blunt weapons (including brass knuckles, clubs and nunchaku)
  • Hard prop weapons (including props made of metal, fiberglass and glass)
  • Instruments that cause excessive noise levels like vuvuzelas, grenade whistles and grenade horns
  • Whips
  • Aerosol mustard

What does SHCC think of Bootlegs?

The buying and selling of counterfeit/knock-off/unlicensed materials is not tolerated at SHCC. The Shanghai Comic Convention is a celebration of the best of popular culture, and bootlegs have no place in the show. Violation of this rule will result in one and only one warning. A second violation and you'll be removed from the show.

 

What should I do if my child, friends, family or I get separated?

Find a SHCC staff member or security guard and we will help you locate your missing party. We suggest that when you arrive at SHCC you and your party pick a location to meet in case anyone does get lost.

Does SHCC offer wheelchairs for disabled attendees?

Sorry, we don’t. But SHCC will offer other necessary conveniences for disabled attendees.

 

Can I bring my pet?

No. The only animals permitted in the Convention Center are service animals. We love animals as much as you, but you are going to have to leave your pets at home.

What is Artist Alley?

Artist Alley is the place to rub elbows with the greatest pencilers, inkers and writers from every corner of comics. Artist Alley is located on the show floor.
 

A room was full when I got there, so now I can’t see a panel. What do I do?

Due to supply and demand and the limited number of seats available, unfortunately not everyone will get to see all the panels. Please schedule beforehand and check back before the show for exact room locations, in case missing any stunning panels.
 

Can I take pictures/videos at the show?

For the most part, you're welcome to take still pictures and videos at SHCC, however, please understand that Guests may or may not pose for photographs with Fans. Guests have a right to their privacy, and if they ask not to have their picture taken, please respect their wishes.
 

Will I be on camera?

SHCC will attract local, national and international press. In purchasing this badge and in consideration for being admitted to the Event, the holder consents to being recorded (by audio, visual and/or other means) for exhibition and exploitation by any means in all media now known or hereafter devised worldwide in perpetuity.
 

Can I bring a suitcase or handcart with me?

Please be aware that handcarts, trolleys, oversized strollers, rolling luggage and wheeled backpacks are not allowed in the Exhibition Hall.
 

Remember to be nice!

Please turn your cell phones off or to vibrate when you're in panel or screening rooms. If you must take or make a call, please step outside.
 

Can you watch my kids?

Sorry, SHCC does not provide childcare services at this time.
 

Can I use a selfie stick?
